Message from Mr Irvine

I am delighted to be writing to you as the newly appointed Headteacher of Ashley Academy. I feel extremely honoured and privileged to have been chosen to continue and build upon the success the school has already achieved since becoming part of WISE Academies.

Having worked as the Deputy Head for the past year, I feel I have built a strong relationship with children, staff, parents/guardians and governors and understand what is needed to take the school forward in the coming years. I have been in teaching for over 20 years and I know that a successful and happy school depends on all of us working together. As parents and carers, you make an important contribution to your children’s achievements, and I’m excited to build on the relationship between you and the school. I hope we can work together to help your child become the very best they can be.

I am passionate about the school and feel extremely proud and honoured to be its Head Teacher. My priority as Head Teacher is to ensure that Ashley Academy provides the best education for all the children.  My job is to lead the dedicated team so that we ensure that every child’s needs are met.  Every minute of every day counts at Ashley! It is essential that we challenge and support our pupils to achieve their full potential in their academic, creative, personal, physical, moral and spiritual development. The staff and I aim to make each child’s primary school days exciting and rewarding so that they develop a love of learning that will last all their lives.

We are delighted with the groundwork that has been accomplished in tidying up the school. The improvements made so far have significantly enhanced our school's appearance and functionality, creating a more welcoming environment for our children and staff. We are excited about these developments and the positive impact they will have on the children as they embark on their journey at Ashley. Look out for further developments throughout the year.

Over the next year, there will be a number of events and opportunities for you to come into school and I look forward to meeting many of you there.

As a parent myself, I really value the opinions and concerns of parents/carers. Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any queries, concerns or if there is anything I can do to help and support you with your child’s learning and school life. I hope that together, we can continue to take the school forward and make Ashley Academy the best it can be. Thank you for your continued commitment and support towards the school.

We're in School Everyday!

At Ashley Academy we are working hard in ensuring that 'We're in School Everyday.' As part of this initiative, we have been celebrating Attendance Week. Throughout the week, children have engaged in a range of activities highlighting the benefits of attending school regularly, focusing on the importance of being present and engaged in their learning.

The children have also designed a poster, where a winner from each has been chosen and has received a special prize to celebrate their achievement.

As an extra incentive, ALL children have received an additional playtime, adding an element of fun to the week's activities.
